Welcome to the Magical World of Story Writing
Session 1 – January 12th – March 9th
$140 inc HST
Wednesday’s 4:15 – 5:30 pm
In this fun and interactive creative writing class, kids will have the opportunity to learn about the magical world of storytelling. Through formal and informal teaching techniques, kids will begin to discover what types of stories make for a captive audience.
This writing program is designed for kids 8-12 years of age (Quills) who have a passion, or new interest, for reading and writing and wish to take that enthusiasm and bring it to the page.
Young writers will learn step-by-step from the beginning of the writing process to the end to help them craft stories that will keep them engaged and creative. Topics we will cover—why reading is so important, parts of a novel, characters, grammar, storyboards, and creative writing practice.
Every class is rooted in a common theme and genre in children’s literature that will guide our direction. Each class will begin with a story, followed by a grammar lesson, and the remaining time is dedicated to writing. By the end of the course, each child will have a completed work that they can feel proud of.
Whether students are already seasoned writers or brand new to the craft, this course promises to take young writers on an exciting literary journey.
