Session 1: Colourful Adventures September 12 – October 24, 2024
Description: In this session students will embark on a creative journey through the vibrant world of colour! Each week, we’ll dive into a new colour, and students will create lively artworks using finger painting, sponge painting, and simple printmaking. It’s going to be a fun and messy adventure where we get to explore and express creativity using the power of colour.
Session 2: Shapes and Patterns All Around Us November 7 – December 19, 2024
Description: Students will be introduced to basic shapes and patterns through engaging and playful art projects. We’ll make shape collages, create pattern prints, and construct simple shape sculptures. These activities will help kids understand and appreciate the shapes and patterns that make up the world around them.
Session 3: Magical Creatures January 9 – February 20th, 2025
Description: Together, we’ll enter a world of fantasy and wonder as we create magical creatures this session. Students will craft unicorns, dragons, and fairies using bright colours, glitter, and other exciting materials. This session is a fantastic way to spark imagination, creativity and learn various artistic techniques along the way.
Session 4: Artistically Awesome Texture! February 27 – April 17, 2025 (No Class March Break)
Description: This session students will discover the fascinating world of textures. Our projects will include making textured collages, sensory paintings, and tactile sculptures. These activities will allow kids to explore different materials via their sense of touch, enhancing their sensory experiences and building important artistic skills using texture.
Session 5: Imagination Creations April 24 – June 5, 2025
Description: Each week, we’ll draw inspiration from our imaginations to create unique art projects. Students will bring their ideas to life by making characters, sculptures, and dioramas using a variety of artistic materials. It’s all about fostering creativity and letting our imaginations run wild through our art this session.

Session 1: Dynamic Drawings September 12 – October 24, 2024
Description: In this session we will focus on developing our drawing skills through engaging activities. We’ll explore line drawing to create dynamic shapes and forms, shading techniques to add depth and dimension, and perspective drawing to understand spatial relationships. We’ll also dive into the world of comic art, where students can design their own characters and stories, learning about sequential art and visual storytelling.
Session 2: Exploring Famous Artists November 7 – December 19, 2024
Description: Each week, students will learn about a different famous artist and create art inspired by their unique styles. Projects will include recreating Van Gogh’s swirling skies in “Starry Night,” experimenting with Monet’s impressionist water lilies, exploring O’Keeffe’s bold and vibrant flowers, and creating abstract portraits in the style of Picasso. These activities will help students understand various art movements and the key techniques associated with the different artistic genres throughout history.
Session 3: Mixed-Media Mystery and Magic January 9 – February 20th, 2025
Description: This session we will dive into the enchanting world of magic and mystery through mixed-media art. Students will create magical wands using a combination of wood, paint, and embellishments, secret potion bottles crafted with recycled glass containers, coloured inks, and glitter, and enchanted forests will come to life using watercolours, textured paper, and natural elements. These projects will encourage students to combine different media and techniques to tell fantastical stories through their art.
Session 4: Wildlife Wonders February 27 – April 17, 2025 (No Class March Break)
Description: Students will learn about wildlife and create art inspired by animals. Projects will include designing animal masks using paper-mâché and paint, creating wildlife paintings with acrylics and watercolours to depict animals in their natural habitats, and sculpting clay animal figures, focusing on form and detail. These activities will foster an appreciation for nature and its many creatures!
Session 5: Mythology and Legends April 24 – June 5, 2025
Description: Myths and legends from various cultures around the world will help us create art this session. We will be sculpting mini statues and creating detailed drawings of various historical characters with powerful, inspiring stories. Legendary tales will inspire projects like crafting mythical creatures with mixed media, including wire, fabric, and paint. This series will use various artistic techniques and materials to bring timeless stories to life!

Session 1: Advanced Drawing Techniques! September 11 – October 23, 2024
Description: Students will refine their drawing skills using advanced techniques. We’ll work on still life drawing, focusing on capturing light, shadow, and texture with charcoal and graphite. Figure drawing will help students understand human anatomy and proportion, using live models or reference images. Perspective drawing will teach them to create depth and realism in architectural and landscape sketches using vanishing points and horizon lines.
Session 2: Street Art and Graffiti Expressions November 6 – December 18, 2024
Description: This session we will explore the vibrant and expressive world of street art. Students will learn about different graffiti styles and techniques, such as tagging, throw-ups, and piece murals. Stencil art projects will teach them precision and layering, while mural creation will involve planning and executing large-scale artworks. This course encourages bold expression and the use of vibrant colours to make impactful statements.
Session 3: Fantasy Illustration in Practice January 8 – February 19, 2025
Description: Students will delve into the enchanting world of fantasy illustration this session. We will create detailed illustrations of fantasy worlds, characters, and creatures using various techniques such as ink drawing, watercolour washes, and digital painting. This course will emphasize character design, environment creation, and narrative storytelling, allowing students to bring their imaginative stories to life.
Session 4: Sculpture and 3D Art World February 26 – April 16, 2025 (No Class March Break)
Description: Kids will explore the exciting world of sculpture and 3D art. They will work with clay to create detailed figures and forms, learning techniques such as coiling, slab building, and sculpting. Papier-mâché projects will allow them to craft large, lightweight structures. Using found objects, students will assemble unique sculptures, understanding the principles of balance, form, and texture.
Session 5: Mixed Media Masterpieces April 23 – June 4, 2025
Description: This course will encourage creativity through diverse mixed media projects. Kids will experiment with combining various materials such as acrylic and watercolour paints, fabric, paper, and found objects. Techniques will include collage, assemblage, and textured painting, allowing children to explore layering, composition, and the tactile qualities of different materials. Each project will result in unique and imaginative artworks that reflect their personal artistic journey.

TEEN CLASS DESCRIPTION:
In this class we will work towards building a personal art portfolio that incorporates your artistic vision and touches on important personal interests/issues.
With a focus on drawing and painting, we’ll take on a variety of projects that will further your knowledge of technique, colour theory and composition, along with how art can help to make connections and commentary on personal, social, environmental, and political happenings.
We will also engage in supportive 1:1 teacher critique sessions throughout this class that are designed to highlight strengths and reveal areas for improvement and growth for our art.
This class provides a safe venue for authentic self-expression and individuality. It is a MUST for any teen that feels called to drawing/painting and is looking to further explore the commonalities of the self, life and art.
Self-expression is a display of individuality whether it’s through words, clothing, hairstyle, or art forms such as writing and drawing. Being self-expressed means showcasing your spirit and true character through your Art. Your practice and work will display the totality of who you are.

Awakening the Artist Within & Defining Your Practice Description:
In this class the limitless possibilities of art-making along with fundamental drawing and painting techniques will be introduced. Throughout this seven-week session we will be exploring various aspects of creating art including; Getting Started, Brushes and Their Uses, Artwork Composition, Colour Mixing, and Drawing & Painting as a Creative and Conceptual Experience.
Participants will develop their drawing and painting skills while focusing on art exploration in representational art and abstract works. Art foundations will be discussed in detail as participants work towards developing a disciplined painting practice that engages their mind, body and spirit.
