Students will create masterpieces large and small using mainly handmade and natural materials. Outdoor and ephemeral art projects will also be explored in this process-oriented art class. Possible projects include homemade watercolours creation, natural material printmaking and outdoor chalk murals.
Kids will explore traditional and non-traditional bookmaking techniques in this hands on class. Projects include accordion books, hand-sewn bookbinding, chimera mix & match books and much more!
Build it Big
Young artists will create large-scale and communal artwork, using a variety of two and three-dimensional materials. Activities include recycled robots, New York City panoramas and Jackson Pollock splatter paintings.
Kids will discover the artwork of contemporary artists, including Kehinde Wiley, Takashi Murakami, Orly Genger, Sun Kwak and other visual artists. We’ll discuss their methods and materials and then create our own artwork inspired by their creations.
Draw, Doodle and Pop!
This unique drawing class will focus on traditional, and non-traditional, drawing techniques, getting inspiration from old masters and contemporary artists such as Jim Dine, Vincent Van Gogh, Keith Haring and many more. Think Kehinde Wiley-inspired self portraits, Takashi Murakami pattern making and Edgar Degas-inspired figure drawing.
