I love this drawing done by one of my students in the 3 1/2 – 5 yr old class. When she drew it and added the caption, it really struck a cord with me in a big way. It made me think of how some people think of art, in that it is a fine skill that only ‘gifted’ artists and/or trained professionals are privy to. When in reality, anyone and everyone is an artist in their own way. People create all the time, making drawings (like this one or otherwise), planning a garden on paper, building wooden sculptures or furniture, or even making special occasion cards. I believe art and art-making, is an all-encompassing process, not just a commodity or intangible entity.
Art comes from within.
I encourage everyone to dabble in some sort of ‘making’ in some way on a regular basis. To let go of any inhibitions or perceived challenges around creating, and just have fun letting the creative energy flow freely.
Try it and see what happens.
I would love to see some of the creations you come up with, please feel free to share them with me!
