Session 1: Artist Journaling – COMPLETED

~ September 5th-26th 2024 (4 Classes)

Description: This class encourages creativity and self-expression through the medium of art journaling. Over four weeks, participants will explore different techniques and materials to create personal and meaningful art journals.

Session 2: Botanical Illustrations – CLASS FULL

~ October 3-24th, 2024 (4 Classes)

Description: This class will focus on the art of botanical illustration, teaching participants how to accurately and beautifully depict plants and flowers. Over four weeks, participants will learn various techniques to create detailed and lifelike illustrations.

Awakening the Artist Within & Defining Your Practice Description:

In this class the limitless possibilities of art-making along with fundamental drawing and painting techniques will be introduced. Throughout this seven-week session we will be exploring various aspects of creating art including; Getting Started, Brushes and Their Uses, Artwork Composition, Colour Mixing, and Drawing & Painting as a Creative and Conceptual Experience.

Participants will develop their drawing and painting skills while focusing on art exploration in representational art and abstract works. Art foundations will be discussed in detail as participants work towards developing a disciplined painting practice that engages their mind, body and spirit.

Session 4: Portrait Painting

Description: This class will focus on the art of portrait painting, teaching participants how to capture the likeness and personality of their subjects. Over four weeks, participants will learn techniques for creating realistic and expressive portraits.

Session 5: Contemporary Abstract Painting

THURSDAYS ~ Feb. 6-27th 2025  7-8:30pm (4 Classes)

Description: This class will introduce adults to the techniques and theories behind contemporary abstract painting. Over four weeks, participants will explore colour theory, composition, and various painting methods, such as pouring, dripping, and palette knife application.

Session 6: Intermediate/Advanced Watercolour Techniques

Description: This class will delve into advanced watercolour techniques, perfect for those with some experience who want to refine their skills. Over four weeks, participants will learn about glazing, wet-on-wet, dry brush, and layering.
